I Couldn't Write a Snappy Title to Save my Life

To start off this new blog I want to talk about how I'm really bad at titling stuff. This started when I was in high school when I started making playlists and I would show them to my friends, they'd look at the songs on let's say an early 2000's playlist and say "Actually that song is from the 90s, and so is this one" and so on and so forth. To which I'd say that the late 90s and early 2000's music was, and is to this day, hard to identify on the spot without me fact checking every song before I put it on a playlist and frankly I am not going to do that work especially if there's a bunch of songs on there.

I actually had this happen again in college where I showed my girlfriend at the time a playlist called "A Buncha Tegan and Sara Songs" which she pointed out had a song on there from a different producer. While there is merit to this, it's Tegan and Sara who are singing the song and not the producer. I guess if I wanted to be more technically correct I could have titled the playlist "A Bunch of Songs That Tegan and Sara Sing" but what about the album they had a bunch of musicians cover songs from "The Con"? Would that still count in the "A Buncha Tegan and Sara Songs" or would I need to create a new playlist called "Songs that Tegan and Sara Touched in Some Capacity"?

Which leads me to my most liked playlist on Spotify, I wanted to create a playlist with songs throughout my childhood that I loved. When I was prompted to name the playlist I was frankly fed up with the past criticism I've received that I titled it "I hate titling playlists." Later my best friend told me she loves that playlist and that there are no skippable songs on it which is probably the best compliment I've been given on a playlist because it's frankly the ONLY compliment I've received for a playlist lol.

Now a days I keep most of my playlists private due to the fear of being known but here's a screenshot with the titles of some of the playlists I've created. I hope my bad naming conventions are at least a little funny!

  1. I never really think much about my playlist names but I'll tell you right now I have playlists called "country gromp", "hating", "crunchy", and "idk sing this girl".
