Anime & Youtube Nostalgia
I was recently watching a YouTube video that referenced Death Note and had a blast from the past where I remembered the early 2000s where the comment sections were full of the "L" insignia on all the AMV and youtube poop videos I watched as a kid. I've been very online since middle school, the amount of Linkin Park Naruto AMVs I have consumed are untold. Clips of Sasuke set to Boulevard of Broken dreams? A classic. It's also how I learned about the musical Avenue Q, I mean with a song called "The Internet is for Porn" how would it not be used excessively? How could I not possibly feel edgy with Dennis Leary's "Lifes Gonna Suck" playing? How could one not feel joyful listening to carameldansen?
For someone who was online very young I do feel lucky that my antisocialness at the time made it so I hadn't dealt with stuff like Chat Roulette nor did I see any of the famous shock value videos. Now a days people will say "Oh you don't know what (something disturbing) is? I wouldn't look it up" and I will always heed that advice because while more restrictions have been put in place it's still not hard to accidentally stumble on something disturbing, or violent, or sexual, or all three and I'm better off not knowing. Sometimes ignorance truly is bliss.
Anyways I think we should all go back to having the L insignia as our pfp icons. I mean look at it, it's rad as hell.
